Terry Fox Run 2010

Once again this year I am proudly supporting The Terry Fox Foundation in its ongoing work to fund innovative and progressive cancer research programs.

I very much hope you will consider making a donation in support of my effort, confident in the knowledge that your kindness will impact the lives of so many people living with cancer. I share the following message with you, as I believe it reflects the core philosophy of this organization and one of the many reasons I choose to support it:
The Terry Fox Foundation firmly believes in its obligation to be fully transparent in all matters relating to fiscal reporting. With only 3 cents of every dollar raised going towards administration, and ten cents going towards fundraising costs, the Foundation is an industry leader in fundraising accountability.
You can donate to me directly and securely by accessing my personal fundraising page:

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support of my goal.

Late Report on This Year's Terry Fox Run

Well even with a late start on fund raising this year I ended up collecting $940 for cancer research. Many thanks to all of you who donated this year.

This year I completed the run my friend, Paul Brun, who I've been doing the run with for years now. He brought along his new girl friend, Kate, and brother Jan. Jan broke his toe week end before the run doing a triathlon so we ended up walking the 10 km at a leisurely pace. All in all it took us about 2 hours. You can see our route by following this link courtesy of a new application on my iPhone called RunKeeper. It works really well with the on board GPS.

Along the run I ran into fellow Straight Talking Java mailing list member, Carl Hume and two hockey buddies Shane Barclay and Steve Crane. All three of them were doing the run with their families which makes me think seriously about getting Anna out with us next year.

Terry Fox Run: This Sunday!

Things are starting to pick up as I've collected $555 for the Terry Fox Run which I will be doing this Sunday along with my buddy Paul, his girlfriend Kate and his brother John. I also hope to run into Alexandre while were there as he will be biking this year with his son. Sunday promises to be a good day with temperatures in the mind 20's with a low possibility of precipitation.

Please help combat cancer by donating to the run.

Terry Fox Run 2008

My fund raising for this year's Terry Fox Run is over. I collected $685 of my $1200 goal. I think there is one donation still to come in which will probably push me over $700 for the year. It is a pretty respectable number considering the 'no soliciting' policy at work.

The run was on Sunday September 14th and as it is our tradition Paul and I did the 10km on our roller blades. We also got a chance to see our team mate Alexandre with his son biking the 10km.

I was a great time, I'm glad to get the opportunity to help keep Terry's dream alive and looking forward to next year.

Please support my participation by donating.

Terry Fox Run 2008 - Update 1

Fund raising for this year's Terry Fox Run is going pretty slowly this year. I have only collected $170 of my $1200 goal. I attribute the slow down to my new employers rules about soliciting donations at work.

Terry Fox Run 2007

So the Terry Fox Run is over for another year. I've collected $1255 which surpasses my $1000 goal.

My team mate, Paul Brun, and I decided to walk the 10 km as he's got a busted ACL and I have a broken ankle. The entire "run" took us an hour and a half during a beautiful fall day here in Ottawa.

It's still not too late to support my participation by donating.

Fund raising for this year's Terry Fox Run. I collected another $125 in donations this week. To bring me up to a total of $680 of my $1000 goal.

I did get some bad news though as my team mate, Paul Brun, may not be able to make it this year as he has a torn ACL. Combine that with my sprained/broken ankle and we may be going very slow during the run this year.
