Description
English: Jóansøka is a festival in the island Suðuroy, Faroe Islands, which is held even years in the village Vágur and odd years in Tvøroyri. The festival is a sports and cultural event with various sports events, art exhibitions, dancing, concerts, etc. Normally there is also a procession just before the opening of the festival. This photo was taken at the Jóansøka 2012 procession in Vágur. The scouts from Vágur are leading the procession, and after them are sports people (children and adults) from the sport clubs of Vágur and neighbour villages: FC Suðuroy, VB Vágur and Vágs Kappróðrarfelag and Suðuroyar Kappróðrarfelag (football, handball and rowing clubs).
Føroyskt: Jóansøku skrúðgonga í Vági 22. juni 2012. Fremst ganga skótarnir, síða koma ítróttarfólkini frá FC Suðuroy, VB, Vágs Kappróðrarfelag og Suðuroyar Kappróðrarfelag. Skrúðgongan er beint áðrenn sjálva setanina. Setanin plagar ofta at vera leygardagin á Jóansøku, men í 2012 var setanin og skrúðgongan fríggjakvøldið.
