Description
English: This calligraphic fragment contains, on the left side, verse 21 of the 24th chapter of the Qur'an entitled al-Nur (The Light). This verse is finished and continued with verse 22 on the fragment's verso. Finally, verse 22 comes to a close on the right side of this fragment. When folded, this bifolio's recto and verso provide the continuous text of verses 21 and 22 of Surat al-Nur. The text is executed in Kufi (New Syle 1), a script most typically found in Qur'ans of the 12th century. These kinds of Qur'ans were produced in the vertical format with five lines of text per page.
