ENTR Next Generation (ENTR-NG) marks a new phase for ENTR, the European social media project for young audiences.

Building on its work since 2021, ENTR-NG will focus its activities around disinformation, media literacy and the role of creators and influencers in how young people access and engage with information online.

The project aims to strengthen young Europeans' resilience to information integrity risks in an increasingly fragmented digital media environment.

Following a Europe-wide call for proposals launched by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT), two consortia were selected for funding under its program on disinformation and youth engagement. As one of the successful projects, ENTR-NG runs from September 1, 2026 to February 29, 2028. The project is led by Deutsche Welle in partnership with France Médias Monde and 13 other media organizations, civil society actors and academic institutions from 10 EU countries.

ENTR-NG responds to the growing challenge of disinformation

ENTR-NG introduces new activities focused on media literacy, disinformation awareness and influencer engagement. The initiative targets young people aged 15 to 30 and reaches them where they increasingly consume and discuss news: on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. ENTR-NG will produce social media content in 16 languages for audiences across Europe. Through content production, training for influencers and content creators, and ongoing knowledge exchange, the consortium will explore new ways of promoting reliable information and helping young audiences make informed decisions online.

"More and more young Europeans encounter overwhelming amounts of information in their social media feeds – opinions, false or misleading information and AI generated content, all mixed up . For them it’s increasingly difficult to distinguish trustworthy sources from simply wrong information, disinformation and manipulation. With ENTR Next Generation, we are bringing together journalists, creators, media literacy experts and disinformation researchers to help both young content creators and users across Europe to develop the skills they need to navigate today's online information environment with critical thinking and confidence,” says Patrick Leusch, ENTR-NG Project Director.

Led by Deutsche Welle, the consortium combines the experience and audience reach of ENTR's existing partners with the expertise of three new organizations: Debunk (Lithuania) contributes expertise in disinformation analysis and information integrity and leads training activities. Voice4You (Sweden) strengthens ENTR-NG's media and information literacy activities through its Mobile Stories Newsroom methodology. NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) contributes expertise in creator engagement, education and participation, drawing on initiatives such as the European Influencers Academy and its Swipe Up Week program.

The ENTR-NG consortium consists of Deutsche Welle (Germany, coordinator), Bonn Institute (Germany), France Médias Monde (France), RFI Romania (Romania), Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (Portugal), Ringier Axel Springer Polska (Poland), Group 4 Media Freedom and Democracy / G4Media (Romania), Are We Europe (Netherlands), Dir.bg (Bulgaria), Central Médiacsoport (Hungary), Debunk EU (Lithuania), Voice4You (Sweden) and NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands).
