Who owns the news? Eine Frage, die die Medienwelt von morgen prägen wird. Denn während KI die Art verändert, wie Informationen gefunden, genutzt und verbreitet werden, steht die Zukunft journalistischer Inhalte auf dem Spiel. Wie bleiben unabhängiger Journalismus und Medienvielfalt sichtbar und finanzierbar? Und welcher rechtliche Rahmen schafft Raum für Innovation und verlässliche Informationen? Darum geht es am 5. November 2026 auf der Global Media Law-Konferenz gemeinsam mit führenden Stimmen aus Medien, Wissenschaft, Politik und Wirtschaft. Die Veranstaltungsreihe wird von der DW mit dem Institut für Medienrecht und Kommunikationsrecht der Universität zu Köln veranstaltet. Unter dem Titel "Who owns the news? How can young people navigate an online world where misinformation spreads faster than ever? 🌐 Across Central and Southeastern Europe, young audiences are confronted with a constant stream of misleading and false information online. Reaching them with topics that matter to them, in their own language and on the platforms they use, is more important than ever. ✅ With #DWfactattack, DW's Fact Check team and DW's Romanian and Hungarian services are working together to strengthen media literacy among young audiences. Through short, engaging videos, young hosts in Romania and Hungary investigate claims circulating online, explain fact-checking methods, and help their peers develop a critical approach to information. How do we make that work across languages and countries? DW stands in solidarity with CNN, Politico and MS NOW which have been denied access to the White House. Independent journalism requires free and equal access to public institutions. Restricting media access on the basis of reporting sends a troubling signal for press freedom and risks reducing the diversity of perspectives available to the public. For this reason, DW will temporarily refrain from using White House-produced photo and video material distributed through official channels on its German and English platforms. Neues aus der Intendanz der Deutschen Welle: Im Oktober stellen wir uns neu auf! Wir wollen uns gezielt weiterentwickeln, unsere Strategie und Kommunikation nach innen und außen stärken und die direktionsübergreifende Zusammenarbeit verbessern. ➡️ Ich freue mich sehr, dass Malika Monz künftig die Leitung der Intendanz übernimmt. Mit ihrer langjährigen Erfahrung als Führungskraft in Organisationsentwicklung, Transformationsprozessen und strategischer Steuerung wird sie dabei helfen, die Zusammenarbeit über Bereiche hinweg weiter zu stärken und wichtige Zukunftsprojekte der DW voranzubringen. ➡️ Gleichzeitig übernimmt Benjamin Rietdorf die Leitung von Corporate Affairs. In diesem Bereich bündeln wir künftig unsere Beziehungen zu politischen, institutionellen und gesellschaftlichen Stakeholdern auf nationaler, europäischer und internationaler Ebene. A dance teacher. A social media alias. A network of alleged sabotage attacks across Europe. A new DW investigation traces how a Cuban dance instructor living in Russia allegedly coordinated a network of so-called "disposable agents." Recruited online, they were tasked with carrying out covert operations in several EU countries. Together with our partners at LRT, ČT and RTVE, DW journalists analyzed court records, leaked data, official documents and dozens of interviews to reconstruct the network and its links to Russian intelligence structures. How do you make a state election in Germany relevant to audiences around the world? 🗳️🌍 For DW, the recent elections in Saxony-Anhalt were more than a regional political story. They were an opportunity to explain developments in Germany, provide context on their implications for Europe, and make them accessible to audiences across continents. ➡️ Our coverage spanned multiple languages, platforms and formats, from live blogs and analysis on dw.com to social media reporting from the ground in Magdeburg and tailored coverage by DW's international language services, including English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and Turkish. DW journalists were also sought after as election experts by international media outlets including BBC, CNN, CBC News, CNN Albania, TVN24 and Polsat News. The impact extended well beyond DW's own platforms. Through our global distribution network, media partners in Mexico, Nigeria, Uganda, Argentina, Ghana and Australia brought DW reporting to millions of additional viewers.
