Baraki Barak has historically been home to the [[Ormur]] tribe, also known as "Burki" or "Baraki", and to other [[Pashtuns]] and [[Tajiks]]. The town is named after the Baraki people, some of whom still speak the [[Ormuri]] (Baraki) language; they live to the northwest and west of the town, and also inside the town. With few exceptions, the Ōrmuṛ people of Barakī Barak are now assimilated to the persophone Tajiks. Of the Tajik ethnic group which are the inhabitants of Barakī Rājān; there is no evidence to suggest that they were ever related to the Ōrmuṛ people..
