Augusto Zampini-Davies (July 25, 1969, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine Catholic priest. He studied law at the Universidad Católica Argentina and worked as a lawyer for banks and multinational companies. In 2004, he was ordained a priest. After studying moral theology, he obtained a master's degree in international development from the University of Bath, a PhD in theology from Roehampton University, London, and a post-doctorate in Cambridge.[clarification needed][1]

As a priest, he served at Holy Apostles, Archdiocese of Westminster, London and as an ad hoc adviser to Cardinal Vincent Nichols on environmental issues. Previously, he served as an assistant priest and chaplain in different parishes and institutions in Argentina, many of them located in the poorest neighbourhoods of Greater Buenos Aires.[2]

Since 2020, he has been Deputy Secretary of the Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, which is chaired by Cardinal Peter Turkson.[3]

He is also adjunct Secretary of the Vatican COVID-19 Commission, which Pope Francis instituted on March 20, 2020, to propose solutions to the socio-economic problems that the coronavirus pandemic would bring with it.[4][5][6]

Zampini is the only Argentine that Pope Francis named during his papacy.[7]
