The Black Mountains of California are located in the eastern part of the state in Death Valley National Park. The Black Mountains are essentially a continuation of the Amargosa Range, and lie in a generally north-south direction at the southern end. The range reaches an elevation of 6,384 feet above sea level at Funeral Peak. Death Valley lies to the west of the Black Mountains, with Greenwater Valley to the east. Dantes View and Coffin Peak lie at the northern end of the range.
