Summary

Description
English: Entomologist Edward F. Knipling (retired) is perhaps best known for originating the concept of pest suppression by the release of sterile insects among native insect populations. The technique was first used to eradicate screwworm, the most damaging insect pest of livestock and wildlife in the United States and Mexico, and is now being used against other serious pests elsewhere in the world.
