Desiderata

Eliezer Yudkowsky once wrote an essay about the Proves Too Much technique, using Calories In, Calories Out (CICO) as the poster child. He makes a reductio ad absurdum argument that if CICO were correct then Mass In, Mass Out would be even more correct. What happens if we bite that bullet??

(Sidebar: What's wrong with CICO? The way I think of it, the fundamental problem of weight loss is a miscalibrated hunger mechanism. So in theory you can count calories to ensure a deficit and lose weight. But it will be torturous and you'll have to do it for the rest of your life.)

Cognata

Verbata: weight loss, tareable diet, melanie, melzafit, melzaminder,
