Was wondering if it was possible, is it working ? If so, you just have to connect CANH/CANL lines from OBD adapter directly to CANH/CANL from ECU, that will bypass the gateway. You may need ECU pinouts, though |

When you try to WRITE data to ECU, CGW makes an echo with a part of DDT4ALL write command. So the real command newer arrives to ECU correctly. If you connect CAN Lines directly to BCM then CGW will not work - because you are at internal network. and YES, I TRIED- WORKED. I tried because I sniffed the traffic and saw what CGW do and found this solution. BCM is located under left - down of steering wheel. I dont rebember the pin out but its easy to locate. |

Yes, with that connection you will join internal can network so you can communicate with all other ecu's as well. I said BCM can because it the easiest location to join internal can network. |

Guys, as I said before, you can WRITE parameters to Clio 5 with proper
connection - directly to bcm can lines. I tested many times.

Is there anyone here with a Clio V (2020-2024) and MultiSense/MySense that is willing to create screenshots for me in DDT4ALL to show me the current settings of his/her car regarding all MEX parameters? You obviously can do that without unlocking the SGW, so it shouldn't be too much work 😬 |

Okay-- a quick update (Clio V Hybrid RS Line, 2020): Since the upgrade of my EasyLink firmware from 283C39788R (v2.9) to 283C37784R (v2.13), DDT4ALL no longer recognizes any matching Navigation ECUs when scanning. I had a dealer unlock the SGW and used PyRen instead, selected the Communications Unit (option 6) and then DDT screens (option 11). Reading the values of "System Information $DAB1" gives me valid results. I set PyRen to "Expert mode", changed the settings for Wireless Carplay [Wireless_Carplay_function, Wifi_function, WiFi_iVC_tethering, WiFi_5GHz_support], and clicked Write. I then reloaded "System Information $DAB1" with the Read button to confirm the changes were made -- they all show ENABLED. However, upon rebooting the head unit... the settings were back to the previous DISABLED defaults. So either the new EasyLink firmware does not allow tools like DDT4ALL and PyRen to actually write permanent changes to the Navigation ECU, or there's something else I'm missing... any ideas, anyone? |

Okay, here is some information that might be helpful for other people with newer EasyLink firmware versions: To unlock the SGW, I bought the Topdon Topscan Lite OBD dongle (€ 69). This dongle works with an Android or iOS app. In the app, I had to buy tokens to unlock the SGW. They're not cheap ($150/€169 for 5 unlock tokens; each token allows for 3 unlocks in 24 hours), but I decided to just go for it, as I don't want to build custom cables and disassemble my dashboard. After unlocking the SGW, I connected my Windows laptop to a Bluetooth ELM327 dongle (AliExpress). I then ran a DDT4ALL scan on available ECUs for my Clio V (XJA), but none of the A-IVI versions (up to 2.8) gave a match. DDT4ALL would throw errors when I tried to read the values after forcing the A-IVI v2.8 file to load. I switched to PyRen instead and entered the Communication cluster DDT screen with the latest A-IVI file I had for the CIlo V (v2.1). The good thing about PyRen is that it makes dumps of every ECU, so you can always restore if you're making a mistake. Enabled Expert mode, in tab "System Information $DAB1" I enabled wireless Carplay (Wireless_Carplay_function, Wifi_function, WiFi_iVC_tethering, WiFi_5GHz_support) and in tab "HMI" I changed Default_Distance_Fuel_Comsumption_unit to "km (km/L)". In each tab, you need to write before you leave, and then when you're done, you also need to click "Key off/on reset". The head unit should reboot, and the changes should stick. However, I noticed that my instrument cluster was suddenly reset to the German language (my car is an import), and the top left 'widget' in the instrument cluster still showed L/km instead of km/L. Upon further research, I could change these settings in the Cluster ECU. For this, I used DDT4ALL (because the Cluster ecu was recognized here), changed the language to Dutch (press write), changed the gas consumption from volume/mileage to mileage/volume (press write), and then clicked the giant button next to it (which resets the ECU). The cluster rebooted, and the car walked through a bunch of self-diagnosis steps. The language is now correct, and the fuel consumption is now shown in km/L. Last hint: to avoid the car 'shutting down' when doing these steps, put it in Neutral and press the on/off button for more than 5 seconds to put the car in APC mode. This will leave all electronics on until you either turn the car off with the on/off button or the battery runs out 🤣 |
