So here's an idea for possible implementation - Service Procedures. Currently I'm capturing some of this functionality in Notes, but I could see an improved way of doing this as it's own tab or section, that could also tie in with Service Records and Supplies.
For my vehicle maintenance, I have a list of maintenance tasks and the basic procedures (mostly the supplies required and tools needed) to speed up actually completing the task. Saves me trying to remember 'what was the socket size for the skid plate I have to remove?' and climbing under the car 2-3 times trying the various sizes I think I remembered correctly. Looks pretty basic and stupid, but honestly saves me a ton of headache and makes the maintenance task less frustrating and more efficient.
Here's a sample of what I have made for each vehicle in my excel workbook, which is quickly getting replaced by Lubelogger :)
My thought is replicate this format/functionality in a tab called Service Procedures. When creating a Service Procedure, you'd have the option to add existing Supplies already entered (or add new ones at this time) and the quantities used in completing this procedure. You would also indicate how the Service Record would be entered when this procedure is completed, along with a notes/procedures section where Tools could be listed and any other reminders/tasks you'd want to enter. Once the procedure is saved as a template of sorts, you could then call it up and indicate that the procedure was 'completed', enter the date and mileage, and automatically a Service Record is entered based on the template and Supplies are consumed accordingly.
I don't think this would replace the current Service Records functionality as the Service Procedures section would be used for more repetitive/routine tasks with supplies in which the user wants to take the time to set up a procedure vs just entering a simple service record.
Anyway, just a thought and not necessary if I'm the only one that desires this functionality. I'm able to get what I need by just sticking these procedures in notes. Just thought I'd throw this out there though for future consideration of features/functionality. I'm really loving this great software and loving that it's taking the place of all my excel spreadsheets!

Could this be modified so that the supplies required could be added to the template, even if you haven't obtained them yet?
Then check supplies required when/before moving from Planned to Done?
On the tools part of this, I dont think it works well, this way. As when you select the service it will change the tools available to zero. Perhaps another record type for tools?
Cheers
