Update on Zile

I came across this impressive project while looking at the state of the art with small Emacsen. I'm the maintainer of Zile, and I'd like to note that its stats have changed in the last few years, as I rewrote it in Vala.

It is now 5.8kLoC (using its make loc target; that's about half of what you cite, which itself is rather more than the 8.0kLoC of the last C version), for a modest increase in binary size (289,008 bytes as built by Ubuntu for amd64).

I beg your pardon, having gone down this rabbit hole, I started playing with Zile's code a bit, and noticed that in fact I'd failed to count one source file, making the current count actually 6.0kLoC.
