Title: Human-in-the-loop (HITL)
Description:
Human-in-the-loop (HITL) refers to the involvement of humans in the development and deployment of AI models. During development, HITL can involve humans labeling data for supervised learning or providing feedback for reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF).
When deployed, HITL serves as an assurance and safety technique, requiring human intervention to complete processes. For example, to ensure the accuracy of generative AI outputs, a human can review the output before it is used.
The Information Commissioner's Office describe this approach to AI assisted decision making.
