Copilot works but copilot chat does not

I am using VS Code on Windows with ssh and connecting to a linux remote machine. Copilot and copilot chat were both working for the first two days after installation. But suddenly, although I have changed nothing, the chat has stopped working.

Copilot for my python files works as usual. It is just the chat that does not work. I have tried disabling-enabling, installing-uninstalling the extension and restarting VS Code. I have tried looking at proxy settings, but I have very little knowledge here to identify any problem with it. All suggestions would be welcome! Thanks a lot
