Need to use -lm flag everytime i wanna use ex. sqrt() in C Vscode

As in title, everytime i have a code with for ex. sqrt() function, i need to use -lm flag for my gcc, on the local system it works fine without any flags, but on codespaces it makes me use just that, is there a way to fix it so it works like it does locally ?

GCC doesn’t link the math library (libm) by default in Codespaces, so -lm is required when using functions like sqrt(). Some local setups may link it implicitly, but Codespaces follows a stricter approach.

Fix:

1. Create an alias (permanent fix):

   alias gcc="gcc -lm"  # Add this to ~/.bashrc or ~/.zshrc

Or

2. Use a Makefile:

   # Makefile
   all:
       gcc -o my_program my_program.c -lm  

   Now, simply run:

   make

   This ensures gcc always links libm.
