Hey,
for a few month now the "new feed" has been broken.
For a lot of people it's useless and no update seems to change this.

So bring back the old non-broken feed and roll-out the new one when its ready or at least make it beta so we can opt-out.

No one needs a feed which does not work.

Yes, my feed only show me 2 or 3 useless updates that are weeks/months old
I did try to reset cookies, change filters, and so on to sometimes have recent updates and I must keep my browser's tab open and pined if I don't want it to disappear 😭

@bhupesh-sf well, GitHub can be surprising. This isn't the first issue with the feed. Nothing new.

Until Github fixes this critically broken part of their app, for those who are growing weary of not being able to keep up with recent releases for starred repositories, I have created a service that does just that.

Hi there, Dustin from the Sunset product team here! I'm just commenting to share that this is very much a part of the plan that we're working on. We're working to sunset as much as the algorithmic parts of the Feed so that we can bring back the chronological sorting that we have heard fairly unanimously from users over the past year. I'm sharing the comment on another Discussion post here, in case anyone is curious!

We are still on track to launch the reversion to purely chronological sorting with an anticipated launch of early next calendar year, after more rigorous testing of the different event types and gatherers that currently populate the feed. We know that this is some time away and that this has been a much anticipated change from the community, but there are other dependencies on the different parts that power the Feed modules that we need to address before going fully live. The Feed has certain algorithmic components that we have to remove as we transition onto more performative infrastructure so it's just taking a little longer than we anticipated originally. We at least wanted to be share a firmer date of when this will be released to all users, with many of your constructive comments above helping us to prioritize internally.

We appreciate your understanding and support, and will update you when we are live, if you don't beat us to seeing it live first!

My, and sure others, biggest concern is about "just having a feed", I have to refresh/apply my feed/filters to get rid of 2-3 very old news, can you confirm it's in your scope to please ?

Hi @Nemric! My understanding from what we've looked at is that the feed content would be populated based on the number of items that a user stars/follows/watches (eg. repository, topics, other users). The content doesn't get dismissed (unless you choose to unfollow content specifically) so the items of activity you mentioned wouldn't disappear until newer content from places you follow appear.

If I understood your question correctly, I might suggest following newer topic areas, more active users with daily contributions, or repositories with a lot of daily activity. My guess from what you're sharing might be that there isn't more recent content, or it's choosing to show you content based on what type of content the Feed has determined might be the most relevant to you. (If it's the latter scenario, we are pushing for this fix to sort purely chronologically without the weighting algorithms that were introduced last year; this is anticipated to go live in mid-March which should fix that problem.)

I'm following a lot of projects, and, as an example, last hours I had to press F5 a lot to have, jenkins updates, victoria metric k8s stack updates, and so on.
My feed only contains 2 or 3 very old news every time, and when it finally give me results, I pin the tab and open links in new tab because I can't rely on my feed
It's not only a sorting problem :/

That's odd and I think you're right that that our fixes will tackle that problem. Can you do me a favor? The next time you experience this (maybe you're experiencing it right now, lol) could you take a screen recording of the dashboard view or a screenshot and share? I can work with our team to see if there's something about it that might be "stuck" that we might be able to help with.. no promises but I'll try my best!
