Hi there @thaumaturgists ,

Sometimes the follower count can get out of sync with the actual follower list, causing a “ghost follower” to appear. Here are a few steps you can try:

Refresh Your Profile or Browser
Log out of GitHub, clear your browser cache, and log back in to see if the follower count updates correctly.

Check for Renamed or Deleted Accounts
If a user changed their username or deleted their account, GitHub might still count them as a follower temporarily. The follower link may no longer be valid.

Contact GitHub Support
If the issue persists, open a ticket with GitHub Support so they can investigate and manually fix any inconsistencies on their end.
