WHY IS MY ACCOUNT FLAGGED AS SPAM?! #60356
-
Select Topic AreaGeneral BodyMy account has been flagged for 2 days and 1 week now for “spam”. I have contacted GitHub support, and they have not replied to my distress calls at all. The incident happened on June 28, 2023 when I tried to save my VSCode/VSCodium profile twice on GitHub using GitHub Gists. I received a notification from GitHub afterwards informing me that my account has been flagged for “spam”. Which I view as complete bullshit. If saving your VSCode/VSCodium profile twice in GitHub Gists results in your GitHub profile being flagged as “spam”: After this is over I am deleting VSCodium/VSCode from my computer. Fuck that piece of shit software. |

Hello! Can you please tell me why when I try to verify my account in a third party application, your system shows me this window: "You have been flagged as spam and therefore cannot authorize a third party application"? Please help me solve this problem. |

In April 2024 my account was unfrozen 3 days after first contacting support. It may have been unfrozen faster if the email on the secondary GitHub account (which I used to contact support) had used the same email address as the account that was frozen. I think upgrading the secondary account to PRO helped to get faster response times, but I'm not certain whether it really made much difference. GitHub didn't provide any explanation, or apologise, for freezing me out of my account. |

My account has been marked as spam, I marked spam when Github mattered to me most, in a project where I was the lead Engineer and could not integrate with Vercel, Netlify or any platform. I cannot get invitations. I've written to support for more than two weeks already and no response, this is really unfair. Right now I'm trying to execute a task in which Github is the only platform I can log in with, and I cannot do that cause I was marked as spam. Who has any idea on what I could do? |

My account too got marked as scam. What was the reason, I got logged in from some place, because of GitHub's issue, they created multiple repositories. The main thing was that My 2-step verification was not used, no email was sent to me upon being logged in, instead of maintaining the system, GitHub seems to like to mark my account scam and not respond to request for the past 2 months. Doesn't even allow reinstating a new request, and never replies to a single request, and even the status is same. https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/131843 |

Git hub doesn't like certain email domains such as Aliases that people use to protect themselves from Spam and so on because they can also be used to spam people without consequence.
Additionally, Github likes certain details filled out on your account profile to.
All ridiculous....

I've been facing an issue with my main GitHub account [HimanshuMohanty-Git24](https://github.com/HimanshuMohanty-Git24) being marked as spam. I submitted a reinstatement request (#2875574) over three weeks ago but haven't received any response. I'm feeling quite stuck because I can't collaborate with my team members due to this problem. I was simply pushing a project when my account was flagged. Can anyone help or suggest what I should do next? 🙏🙏

LOL. My account was flagged two months ago, and it's most likely a mistake. I waited two months for a response, and eventually, support told me I had uploaded some binary file to my repository without the source code, then closed the thread. They didn’t provide any information on what was wrong, just gave a generic response. I didn't upload any files (I checked the commits in every repository from that period). I hope this is a joke—how could such nonsense happen in 2024? Time to move to GitLab LOL |

Well, I got flagged too, someone took over my account and spammed malware repositories on my account last month that I didn't notice. Then I need to remove all 30 repo, changed password, fix the security and sent the reinstatement. It's been a week now and no response yet, man |
