Suggestion: star lists API

I second this. Access to the stars lists and the membership of lists via users/USERNAME/starred is desired. Simply clicking on each starred repo (hundreds) and then adding them to a list is too just too painful.

Is there an update on this?? I have built out over 20 lists with a TON of repos, i assumed there would be an API for this but none still as far as i can tell. This has to be a prioritized feature.

I was trying to do the same thing as @tiangolo, to pick some of my repositories for my personal website, then I found the lists and it was sad to find out that there's no way to access that information from the API.

I recently downloaded the user-stars extension for github cli which is very useful. Adding star lists to the API would also allow for someone to write a github cli extension for that as well.

I've got this thread subscribed so I can listen out for updates 😊. Even if there was only a readable API to begin with I'd see that as a big plus. Personally not looking to write anything back as I find the UI pretty good, especially the fact that repos automatically star when I add them to a list 👍🏻

I also would really love this. My use case is to curate a list of repos that I can run a script against to get all open PRs.
Currently, the script is something like this but I would LOVE to dynamically pull from a github stars list.

I'm the same. Even just adding an array field for each starred repo with the "star lists" the repo inhabits would allow me to retain the categorisation I've built up.

I don't know why GitHub don't planned to implement this, but as for me solution is using own organizations as repos list and forks in it so I can simply get my repos via my organizations list and organization repos list after that using embedded API methods.

Does this include the lists that the starred repos are within (or the lack thereof)? I'm looking for a tool to help me find which repos I've starred but NOT yet added to a list, so I can keep them organized.

Pardon me if I am mistaken about your neglect being intentional, but it seems unfathomable to me that, given the resources and experience of Github building extremly complex APIs, you could not implement such a simple API endpoint. It frankly appears to be a deliberate decision to keep the users locked-in to their github account to access such a basic information.

Or I might be reading too much into this and it truly takes 4 years to develop this feature.

To think they spend any energy at all even considering issues like this is not accurate.
There is nothing "intentional" or otherwise active, such as "ignoring", from GH here.

Rather, it seems they only attend to issues or discussions or features related to copilot.
