I'm an independent consultant who purchased a 'business' license -- there's no waitlist for ppl like me, only those who purchased an 'individual' license. Instructions tell me to contact 'my support engineer' but I don't have one.

Right now I'm paying for both Github Copilot and Jetbrains AI Assistant. Copilot for code completion and AI Assistant for the chat. At some point I will have to decide to keep just one. Will it be Copilot if there is no chat ???

Hi @mishmanners , that's really good to hear and thanks for acknowledging the oversight.

Still this is not matching any other GitHub communication, which was basically radio silence for a long time. I even sent a request to support and the reply only said "Currently Chat on Jetbrains is in private beta, and we do not yet have Chat for Neovim available." not mentioning if Neovim support was even planned.

It would be awesome if you could be more transparent about official support of Neovim (in terms of being in par with VS Code, not just as a third class citizen) and communicate more often to users. A timeline, even when approximate, would be awesome.

This is not just a "community" thing, this is a paid service and I guess paying customers have certain expectations about the services they pay for.

I really hope you can improve the communication and specially treat Neovim support as important as VS Support, or remove it from your marketing pages, or at least add a big disclaimer about Neovim support being limited.

It is also available at no cost to verified teachers, students, and maintainers of popular open source projects. If you’ve been using Copilot Chat in public beta or have already provided access to your development team, no additional actions are required. There’s also no need to install any additional extensions; Copilot chat extension is bundled together with the Copilot extension.

Please note that as of now, GitHub Copilot Chat is still in the private beta for JetBrains IDEs.

Enterprise and organization administrators can grant their development teams access to Copilot Chat by enabling the Copilot Chat setting for their users.

I doesn't load for F#. Copilot itself seems to just "guess" like the proverbial stochastic parrot with this language. It doesn't seem capable of any semblance of reasoning in Fsharp. Is this to be expected?

GitHub Copilot is trained on all languages that appear in public repositories. For each language, the quality of suggestions you receive may depend on the volume and diversity of training data for that language. For example, JavaScript is well-represented in public repositories and is one of GitHub Copilot's best supported languages. Languages with less representation in public repositories may produce fewer or less robust suggestions.

Thank you for your reply. I understand the quality of its guesses being based on available training data (although Microsoft Research has demonstrated its capable of training models for coding in synthetic data exclusively, like Phi, maybe they are not so involved in this project). Copilot Chat doesn't open, though, it just keeps "loading" forever (little circle on screen). It should crash and generate an error report instead, I think that would be better for incremental improvement.

I have Copilot Chat enabled in my organization's settings, however it's still not available in the Jetbrains IDE. Instead, I see this. text:

Since I'm a very small business, I don't have a solutions engineer to work with. How can I get it enabled? Can someone enable it for me?

Organization licenses cost twice as much per month as individual seats -- shouldn't we get some sort of priority?

If you are currently meeting the Prerequisites, these are the guidelines for enabling/disabling Copilot Chat in JetBrains IDE at enterprise level:

• In the enterprise account sidebar, click Policies.
• Under " Policies", click Copilot.
• To the right of GitHub Copilot Chat Beta, select the dropdown menu, and then choose the appropriate option.
  • Click Allowed to enable the GitHub Copilot Chat beta for all organizations under your enterprise.
  • Click Blocked to disable the GitHub Copilot Chat beta for all organizations under your enterprise.
  • Click No policy to allow each organization under your enterprise to set their own policy.
