Special Sections

IEEE Access Special Sections are a collection of articles grouped together on IEEE Xplore that focus on unique topics—topics of research that belong within the IEEE but would be considered out of scope for most of the IEEE journals (e.g. multidisciplinary or boundary-pushing topics). Each Special Section will include an editorial that introduces the collection of eight or more articles on the topic. Special Sections topics are determined by the IEEE Access Editorial Board Members, and are managed by invited and experienced Associate Editors.

Open Special Sections

The following Special Sections are currently open for article submissions. See below for the Call for Papers:

There are currently no Special Sections open for article submission at this time. Please check back later for updates.

Published Special Sections

Grouped together on IEEE Xplore under Topics, you can find the full collection of published articles in each IEEE Access Special Section. Sharing a central theme that focuses on unique or cutting-edge topics, these articles may be interdisciplinary or boundary-pushing.

How to Submit an Article to a Section

1

During the article submission process on the IEEE Author Portal, the first question authors will be asked is “What kind of manuscript are you submitting?”.

2

There will be a dropdown list with all of the section options.

3

Select the relevant section you would like to submit to. If you are not interested in submitting to a section, you should pick “Regular Manuscript.”

4

If the editors managing the section decide your article does not fit the scope of their section, the article will be returned to draft and you will have the option to resubmit to another relevant section, or you can submit the article as a “Regular Manuscript”.
