Blue velvet (1986)

Everybody raves about David Lynch, so i decided to watch a David Lynch film. I think it was good, but it was weird, and i’m not sure that i’ll be watching any more of his films for a while.

Most of the actors were good, although some were noticeably better than others. The plot was strange but i think that’s the point, and nothing felt so unbelievable that it caused any issues, although some of the characters felt more caricatured than necessary. Sometimes there were leaps which didn’t quite make sense to me, and i’m not sure if that was intentional or not. The music was good, and the cinematography was also. The film felt raw, but professionally so.

Erotic horror is not my go to genre, and truthfully i didn’t know that this film was considered to be erotic or horror before watching it. If i knew, maybe i wouldn’t have gone for it, but i’m glad that i watched it, because now i feel like a know a little bit more about David Lynch and why people like him so much.
