Open Source Python File Tagging Software

Standalone application that uses the clipboard to insert a tag in any document and/or in a log file. Tags contain context information (e.g., date, author) + text note, picture or webcam shot. Tags can contain variables generated by user and/or external programs.

Tag, search (e.g., by similarity), manage data collections of your choosing. Currently optimized for music and image data. Uses sha1 hashes for identification. Please use additional programs such as: IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com) and MPC (https://mpc-hc.org) for media handling and a console with unicode support, like ConEmu (https://conemu.github.io).

IMPORTANT: Refractag was later renamed to Inferact. Please use the latter for improved functionality. File-tagging for Windows and Linux. Terminal interface only, for now.

This library and tools help you to keep tags for files in an external database. As few external dependencies as possible are needed, making it a lightweight file tagging solution.
