In this blog post, I'd like to introduce you to two packages that we recently released. The first is laravel-webhook-server, which allows you to send webhook requests. The second one is laravel-webhook-client, which makes it easy to receive those webhook request. Webhooks are very useful when a system wants to be notified as soon as something happens in another system. Let's make that a bit less abstract and take a look at a real-world example. laravel-webhook-server allows you to configure and send webhooks in a Laravel app easily. So you'll install this into the app that wants to notify other apps that something has happened. The package has support for signing calls, retrying calls, and backoff strategies. -

Milkman
An extensible request/response workbench
Milkman is heavily inspired by Postman. But I got sick of all those electron-based applications that need ages and loads of memory to start up. Therefore, this is a JavaFx-based workbench for crafting requests/responses. It is not limited to e.g. HTTP (or more specifically rest) requests. Due to nearly everything being a plugin, other things are possible, like database requests or GRPC, GraphQl, etc. Request-types (e.g. Http Request), request-aspects (e.g. Headers, Body, etc), editors for request aspects (e.g. table-based editors for headers), importers, whatever it is, you can extend it. The core application only handles Workspaces with Environments, Collections, Requests, and their aspects. Several plugins are provided already that extend the core application to be a replacement for postman. Crafting and Executing Http/Rest requests with json highlighting. This significantly simplifies operations and use of prometheus at scale (when you have more than one prometheus host). Promxy delivers this unified access endpoint without requiring any sidecars, custom-builds, or other changes to your prometheus infrastructure. Prometheus itself provides no real HA/clustering support. As such the best-practice is to run multiple (e.g N) hosts with the same config. Similarly prometheus has no real built-in query federation, which means that you end up with N sources in grafana which is (1) confusing to grafana users and (2) has no support for aggregation across the sources. Promxy enables an HA prometheus setup by "merging" the data from the duplicate hosts (so if there is a gap in one, promxy will fill with the other). In addition Promxy provides a single datasource for all promql queries. -

If you're using this library with TypeScript the method of importing slightly differs from JavaScript. Instead of using require, you must import it with ES6 default import scheme. If you're using a web bundles (webpack, rollup, parcel) you can benefit from using the module build of jimp. Using the module build will allow your bundler to understand your code better and exclude things you aren't using. If you're using webpack you can set process.browser to true and your build of jimp will exclude certain parts, making it load faster. The static Jimp.read method takes the path to a file, URL, dimensions, a Jimp instance or a buffer and returns a Promise. In some cases, you need to pass additional parameters with an image's URL.
