Scenarios require the player to complete a certain objective in a set time limit whilst sandbox allows the player to build a more flexible park with optionally no restrictions or finance. AirSim is an open-source, cross platform simulator for drones, cars and more vehicles, built on Unreal Engine with an experimental Unity release in the works. It supports software-in-the-loop simulation with popular flight controllers such as PX4 & ArduPilot and hardware-in-loop with PX4 for physically and visually realistic simulations. It is developed as an Unreal plugin that can simply be dropped into any Unreal environment. AirSim's development is oriented towards the goal of creating a platform for AI research to experiment with deep learning, computer vision and reinforcement learning algorithms for autonomous vehicles. For this purpose, AirSim also exposes APIs to retrieve data and control vehicles in a platform independent way. AirSim is fully enabled for multiple vehicles. This capability allows you to create multiple vehicles easily and use APIs to control them. -

CARLA has been developed from the ground up to support development, training, and validation of autonomous driving systems. In addition to open-source code and protocols, CARLA provides open digital assets (urban layouts, buildings, vehicles) that were created for this purpose and can be used freely. The simulation platform supports flexible specification of sensor suites, environmental conditions, full control of all static and dynamic actors, maps generation and much more. Multiple clients in the same or in different nodes can control different actors. CARLA exposes a powerful API that allows users to control all aspects related to the simulation, including traffic generation, pedestrian behaviors, weathers, sensors, and much more. Users can configure diverse sensor suites including LIDARs, multiple cameras, depth sensors and GPS among others. Users can easily create their own maps following the OpenDrive standard via tools like RoadRunner.
