Quickly create and run optimized Windows, macOS, and Linux virtual machines. Quickemu is a wrapper for the excellent QEMU that automatically "does the right thing" when creating virtual machines. No requirement for exhaustive configuration options. You decide what operating system you want to run and Quickemu takes care of the rest. The original objective of the project was to enable quick testing of Linux distributions where the virtual machines and their configuration can be stored anywhere (such as external USB storage or your home directory) and no elevated permissions are required to run the virtual machines. -

The LLVM Project is a collection of modular and reusable compiler and toolchain technologies. Despite its name, LLVM has little to do with traditional virtual machines. LLVM began as a research project at the University of Illinois, with the goal of providing a modern, SSA-based compilation strategy capable of supporting both static and dynamic compilation of arbitrary programming languages. Since then, LLVM has grown to be an umbrella project consisting of a number of subprojects, many of which are being used in production by a wide variety of commercial and open source projects as well as being widely used in academic research. Code in the LLVM project is licensed under the "Apache 2.0 License with LLVM exceptions". The LLVM Core libraries provide a modern source- and target-independent optimizer, along with code generation support for many popular CPUs (as well as some less common ones!). -

This project makes it surprisingly easy to run a Windows environment inside a Docker container by using a QEMU-based virtual machine under the hood. It provides a turnkey image and a simple set of environment variables so you can select Windows editions, control disk persistence, and access the VM via a web-based VNC console or similar remote viewers. Because the VM is wrapped in Docker, you can treat Windows as a disposable, repeatable service: create, snapshot with volumes, tear down, and rebuild with consistent results. The setup bundles sensible defaults for UEFI/OVMF firmware, virtio devices, and automated first-boot behavior to streamline installation. It’s handy for demos, testing, or hosted tooling that truly requires Windows but where you still want container-style workflows and orchestration. -

Byte Buddy
Runtime code generation for the Java virtual machine
Byte Buddy is a code generation and manipulation library for creating and modifying Java classes during the runtime of a Java application and without the help of a compiler. Other than the code generation utilities that ship with the Java Class Library, Byte Buddy allows the creation of arbitrary classes and is not limited to implementing interfaces for the creation of runtime proxies. Furthermore, Byte Buddy offers a convenient API for changing classes either manually, using a Java agent or during a build. In order to use Byte Buddy, one does not require an understanding of Java byte code or the class file format. In contrast, Byte Buddy's API aims for code that is concise and easy to understand for everybody. Nevertheless, Byte Buddy remains fully customizable down to the possibility of defining custom byte code. Furthermore, the API was designed to be as non-intrusive as possible and as a result, Byte Buddy does not leave any trace in the classes that were created by it. -

JPHP - an implementation of PHP on Java VM
JPPM is a packager manager for JPHP like npm or composer. JPPM will help you to build and run jphp applications or write new packages. JPHP is a new implementation for PHP which uses the Java VM. It supports many features of the PHP language (7.1+). How does it work? JPHP is a compiler like javac, it compiles PHP sources to JVM bytecode and then can execute the result on the Java VM. We develop a new IDE for beginners like Game Maker or Scirra Construct. It's based on JPHP, JavaFX, Java 8, and Gradle, and allows to creation of desktop games and apps for Linux, Windows, and Mac (maybe Android and other platforms in the future). JPHP is not a replacement for the Zend PHP engine or Facebook HHVM. We don’t plan to implement the zend runtime libraries (e.g. Curl, PRCE, etc.) for JPHP. PHP 7.1+ (and many language features from PHP 7.2, 7.3, 7.4). JIT (~2.5x faster PHP 5.6, ~1.1x faster PHP 7.0, ~13% slower than PHP 7.4, bench). Using java libraries and classes in PHP code. -

Kata Containers is an open source container runtime, building lightweight virtual machines that seamlessly plug into the container ecosystem. Kata Containers is an open source community working to build a secure container runtime with lightweight virtual machines that feel and perform like containers, but provide stronger workload isolation using hardware virtualization technology as a second layer of defense. Since launching in December 2017, the community successfully merged the best parts of Intel Clear Containers with Hyper.sh RunV and scaled to include support for major architectures including AMD64, ARM, IBM p-series, and IBM z-series in addition to x86_64. Kata Containers also supports multiple hypervisors including QEMU, Cloud-Hypervisor, and Firecracker, and integrates with the containerd project among others. -

Short for "Metamodel On A Runtime", MoarVM is a modern virtual machine built for the Rakudo Perl 6 compiler and the NQP Compiler Toolchain. MoarVM is used by the majority of Perl 6 programmers. Highlights include: Great Unicode support, with strings represented at grapheme level, dynamic analysis of running code to identify hot functions and loops, and perform a range of optimizations, including type specialization and inlining, support for threads, a range of concurrency control constructs, and asynchronous sockets, timers, processes, and more, generational, parallel, garbage collection, support for numerous language features, including first class functions, exceptions, continuations, runtime loading of code, big integers and interfacing with native libraries. MoarVM provides very little directly - and that's a good thing. It is not tied to a particular way of doing inheritance, roles, mixins, method resolution, type-checking, and so forth. -

Automated installation of the Microsoft IE App Compat virtual machines
Microsoft provides virtual machine disk images to facilitate website testing in multiple versions of IE, regardless of the host operating system. Unfortunately, setting these virtual machines up without Microsoft's VirtualPC can be extremely difficult. The ievms scripts aim to facilitate that process using VirtualBox on Linux or OS X. With a single command, you can have IE6, IE7, IE8 and IE9 running in separate virtual machines. Install network adapter drivers by opening the drivers CD image in the VM. The IE6 network drivers must be installed upon first boot, or an activation loop will prevent subsequent logins forever. If this happens, restoring to the clean snapshot will reset the activation lock. The VHD archives are massive and can take hours or tens of minutes to download, depending on the speed of your internet connection. You might want to start the install and then go catch a movie, or maybe dinner, or both. -

Instructions: After starting this VM, enable the Play Store app, by clicking the Settings -> Apps -> Play Store -> Enable. Then, Launch Play Store App, by clicking the 3 vertical dots icon, at the bottom of desktop. Then download whatever app is needed from the Play Store. Quickly, Cancel any automatic downloads of Play Store app ( itself ), from the notification drawer, as this will prevent it from its future working. Disable the Play Store app, after your other app installs are completed. Increase CPU Count and Memory in VM's Settings, as required, for better performance.
