If I write an On Copy script to do something simple like a string replacement, I find it annoying that it doesn't just work immediately via Ctrl + C and then Ctrl + V right after. Instead, I always have to open the Ditto window after copying, and manually select the top clip. In other words, Ditto does not write the script result to the system clipboard ready to paste, it only adds it to the top of the list of stored clips. Is there a setting or fix for this (Windows version)?

Scott‘s description of the colored narrow vertical bar could be misleading. Those clips which do not have that colored bar are those which have not been pasted using Ditto. They could have been pasted via another clipboard manager or via the Windows clipboard.

For the record, that project had no activity for more than 7 years, and hardly any for more than 12. I recommend looking into CopyQ instead.

There is a very good app for iPhone/ iPad called Wordboard. It is like Ditto but has more features (dedicated keyboard, inserting variables etc,). It has an export facility so might work for you.

There is an option in Special Paste - Paste + Current Time which adds the Date/time to your paste. it would be good if this could be edited to only have the date as an option though.

Trigger: I toggled the "Ensure Ditto is always connected" setting in Options > General. The Bug: Immediately, all clip descriptions turned blank/invisible. Disabling the setting or starting a fresh database did not fix it. The UI stayed broken. The Resolution: I had to use BCUninstaller to perform a deep clean of the registry and config files. I might have answered my own question. Somehow the clip that I have been editing since forever has Rich Text Format among its copy formats. I delete that, leaving only the CF_UNICODETEXT format, and now when editing Ditto brings up the clip in Notepad. I don't know how the RTF copy format was introduced into this clip, but I'm good to go now.

Lately the editor that Ditto brings up for editing clips is opening Microsoft Word. I preferred the old simple Notepad-like editor. How do I get that back? I looked at all the Ditto options and didn't see anything in this regard, nor am I finding other discussions about this. Thanks.

I want to be able to add content to Ditto without polluting my Windows Clipboard. I've been able to add content to Ditto using python directly into the DB, but it gives paste error when trying to use it. So it's kind of worthless :) Anyone else tried it ? Is there a smarter way ?

Just found Ditto, after using ClipX for many, many years - my new work laptop won't allow me to use it but was allowed to install this from the Microsoft Store. One feature I use all the time with ClipX is the sticky clips, and was glad to see these are supported in Ditto. However, I'd prefer to have them AFTER all of the dynamic clips, rather than at the top. Hello. I'm currently using 3.24.246.0 and can see the regex search being case-sensitive. Is it possible to let users turn off/on case sensitivity for regex search? Even better would be to have a entirely separate option for case sensitivity so that even the regular search's case sensitivity can toggled off/on. Like: Search Option > Case Sensitivity > Off/On. Searched google/reddit/here but didn't see anything. I open Ditto through a hot key, but when I click anything outside the window, it closes Ditto. I want Ditto to stay opened until I manually close it with Escape or mouse. If I set Always on Top, it stays, but I don't want that because when I click Escape, it'll reduce to the title bar and stay there. I just want it close when I manually do it, but stay open otherwise. I have done that long ago. With 10 seconds break before inserting the clip. It turned out that the throwing Ditto.exe into programs that Microsoft Defender did not check. So maybe it's an anti -virus program.

I've been facing the paste delay lately. I had around 4 GB of database. I deleted all the images and now it is only 27 MB. Still the issue isn't resolved. Please let me know what can be done. Thanks.

WARNING: Ditto exports individual files when the export option is used, so be careful when exporting it. I almost crashed my PC by exporting Ditto files to my desktop.

I just found a keyboard shortcut in the options to "Toggle Show Persistent" (CTRL + SPACE) You'll know it worked when you see the vertical words on the right of the ditto window show "Ditto [Always on top]"

Hello dear Ditto ppl. Love this piece of software and it's just so useful. Best one out there. Just 1 small request in relation to this thread. Anyone else experiencing on latest ditto v3.24.246.0 that setting False to "Allow duplicates" actually does not work and I end up indeed having duplicates despite that False ... ofc I've closed and reopen Ditto and my whole PC for that sake. I am using Ditto on my corporate laptop. I have the app always on top. i normally have it placed on the lower right rand of my desktop jusy above the time in the taskbar. I feel like it would be beter placed on the left side of my scree. but when I open the available clips, it opens to the left so I cant see the selections. Any way I can get it to open to the right? Not to resurrect a dead post, but found this via a google search. Just had this happen to me, though the most recent change was bumping the number of stored clips to 6000, many of my clips are images, so this has an impact on the database size, and my database was 1,999,674 KB, I suspect there could be a 2GB limit to the database. I reduced to 4000 clips and then in Advanced selected to compact and repair database, now DB is 1.5GB and now it's working fine again and capturing every clip without ...

I can't delete the CTRL-ALT-C global hot key, I'm not sure if it's assigned to a clip (too many in my db), but Ditto lists it in the right click-Global Hot Keys dialog. Is there a way to unregister it? I need that for another application.

I find several web sites (typically financial) do not allow copying or pasting in key fields, usually account number, password, etc. Is this a different problem?

Some apps have problems pasting back into the correct location or edit control. When this happens it's best to either press ctrl-c to place the clip onto the clipboard and then make sure the app you are pasting into has the cursor at the correct location and then manually press ctrl-v, or If the paste doesn't work by pressing enter on the clip the data is still on the clipboard and can manually be pasted with ctrl-v.

I use this clipboard manager on a daily basis and sometimes the strings I use most often are overwritten, it would be great if there was a 'My list' where can store long strings that we use often that are otherwise difficult to type manually and be allowed to store up to 100 different unique strings that wont be overwritten nor will impact the total amount of overwritable strings in the default clipboard.
