JAIPUR: A marginal rise in minimum temperatures was recorded across the state on Sunday. Fatehpur continued to be the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius, Met reports said.
For the seventh consecutive day on Sunday, people in many places in the state experienced shivering cold conditions. Though a rise of almost one degree was observed on average, it was not enough to be seen as relief.
Attributing the climatic conditions to the active upper air cyclonic circulation, the Met office said that the mercury is likely to take an upward swing on Monday. However, from Wednesday onwards, some places in the state are likely to experience shivering cold conditions.
People in Jaipur saw a minor rise in temperature; however, a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city. It was not a relief, as on Saturday, a minimum temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius was recorded. During the early morning hours, the roads were empty as people confined themselves to their homes. Likewise, in the late evening hours, the majority of the busiest city roads were empty. However, heavy rush was seen at MI Road, Gaurav Towers, and other hangout joints in the city, where people were seen enjoying sizzlers and hot beverages to beat the shivering cold.
Since no fog and mist were present in the morning, the traffic on the highways connecting Jaipur to Agra, Jaipur to Delhi, and Jaipur to Ajmer was smooth.
People in Fatehpur, Sikar, Pilani, and Churu have been experiencing severe cold wave conditions for the past week. In Fatehpur, there was a curfew-like situation until 12am as traders and others avoided opening the market during the early morning hours.
