Vijay Hazare Trophy: Mahipal Lomror hits unbeaten century as Rajasthan beat Services by 5 wickets

JAIPUR: Rajasthan captain Mahipal Lomror led from the front to steer his side to a comfortable five-wicket victory over Services in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Dr DY Patil University Ground, Mumbai on Tuesday.
In the fifth league match of Group B, Rajasthan dominated their rivals to complete a hat-trick of wins with 4 overs to spare in the eight-team tough group.It was a perfect day for Lomror. The new Rajasthan skipper won the toss yet again and invited Services to take first strike.
Rajasthan bowlers justified their captain’s decision and bundled out Services for 232. Eight out of ten wickets were claimed by Rajasthan medium-pacers with Kamlesh Nagarkoti emerging as the most successful bowler with 4 for 42. Experienced seamers Deepak Chahar (2-49) and Aniket Choudhary (1-44) yet again proved their utility. Leg-spinner Deepak Chahar bagged a couple of wickets including a prize scalp of Services skipper Mohit Ahlawat, who slammed 78 off 83 balls and was involved in a 77-run fourth wicket partnership with Rajat Paliwal (70).
Rajasthan also did not start well and lost both the openers -- Ram Chouhan (0) and Sumit Godara (8) – quite early. However, Lomror first steadied the ship with Deepak Hooda (16) and then Kartik Sharma (53: 52b, 1x4, 4x6) to put his team on the track.
Lomror steered his side to safety with a brilliant unbeaten century. The diminutive southpaw scored 108 off 135 balls which included eight fours and three sixes. For his match-winning knock, Lomror was named player-of-the-match. Young all-rounder Manav Suthar remained undefeated on 23 off 26 balls.
Despite registering their fourth win, Rajasthan stayed at the fourth spot with 16 points to their kitty. Maharashtra topped the chart with 20 points, while AP and Railways followed them with 16 points each.
