VARANASI: A group of 25 students from the Northeast arrived in Varanasi on Thursday evening for a five-day visit to explore the cultural, spiritual, and historical heritage of North India. The group includes students from Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.
The visit is part of the 'Rashtriya Ekatmta Yatra,' organised under the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's (ABVP) initiative, 'Students Experience in Inter-State Living' (SEIL). The students were welcomed by ABVP volunteers at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction before being brought to Varanasi, where they will stay with host families of ABVP volunteers to gain an understanding of the region's unique lifestyle.
During their visit, the students will tour prominent landmarks, including the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Sarnath Temple. They will also interact with students from top educational institutions in Varanasi, such as Banaras Hindu University, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, and Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. Special programs will introduce the visiting students to the cultural traditions of North India.

The SEIL initiative, launched by ABVP in 1966, has been held annually to promote cultural unity and foster connections between students from Northeast India and the rest of the country. This year’s Rashtriya Ekatmta Yatra, running from January 22 to February 13, will host 256 students from the Northeast on similar tours across India.

Welcoming the visitors, Abhay Pratap Singh, State Secretary of ABVP, Kashi, said, "Through the 'Rashtriya Ekatmta Yatra' organised by ABVP, student representatives from Northeast India will get an opportunity to experience the culture of the rest of India. The group arriving in Varanasi was warmly received by ABVP volunteers, and for the next five days, they will participate in various programs to explore the unique cultural and spiritual heritage of Varanasi. Staying with the families of ABVP volunteers will help the visiting students connect with local communities, fostering mutual understanding, friendship, and a spirit of national unity."

The initiative aims to highlight India's cultural diversity while promoting a sense of national unity among young representatives from different states.
