Veteran Marathi actor and comedian Ashok Saraf has been announced as a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri Award, marking a significant moment of pride for Maharashtra. Speaking to ETimes, Ashok Saraf’s wife and actress Nivedita Saraf expressed her happiness and pride. She said, "I felt very happy because I believed it was long overdue. But, you know, since he got the Maharashtra Bhushan, which is also from his Garbha Bhoomi (birthplace), it holds great significance. Maharashtra Bhushan is from our state, where he has lived, grown, and been nurtured by the people who made him big and showered him with love. So, Maharashtra Bhushan is special, and now he has received the Padma Shri, so I am very happy."
She further shared, "Most of us are extremely grateful. The most important thing is that we feel very thankful to the committee who, you know, ultimately decided that he should receive the Padma Shri. This recognition is the result of all his hard work, and he is immensely grateful to his audience because he always feels that whatever he is today is because of them."
