It was Maha Kumbh calling for actress Bhagyashree, who, along with her husband, Himalaya Dassani and actor children Abhimanyu and Avantika experienced the largest spiritual congregation being organised at Prayagraj. The visit was special because it coincided with her daughter Avantika’s birthday.
The Maine Pyar Kiya actress said, “Once we got to know about Maha Kumbh I started checking on the dates and possibilities of being there. Fortunately, I got an invitation to be part of a professional commitment in Prayagraj. I told my children that I was going and a Kumbh Mela is happening and it would be wonderful if we could make plans to visit the place together. My children, who had seen a lot about Kumbh Mela on social media, realised mummy is not talking just off the head. They knew about the humongous mela and the chance to experience the once-in-a-lifetime Maha Kumbh that triggered off the desire to be at the mega fair. Once the plans were made the next thing on our mind was the accommodation. We wanted our visit to be comfortable as well as enjoyable.”
The actress added, “And luckily my rakhi brother Anant Mishra helped us with the logistics. This being my first Kumbh Mela experience, what really amazed me was the kind of structure that had been created on the sandy banks of the river Ganga and a continuous system to keep the area clean was in place. This can make you ponder if this kind of cleanliness drive can be executed here then it should also happen across our country. The enormous management required for this kind of infrastructure was incredible. Even at the bathing ghat, there were proper changing areas so that women could change their clothes comfortably.”
Sharing her experience of taking the holy dip, Bhagyashree said, “While taking the dip my thoughts were about the river Ganga, the magnanimity of the river, its origin at Gangorti, its confluence with other rivers and how much the river carries within itself, encompassing so many people. This makes you realise how small you are before nature, the minuscule stature of humans. This is not about the religious aspect but about the spiritual realisation that how we get agitated by frivolous things. This is also a realisation that the river Ganga, which crosses so many states, and nature has given us and it is our duty to protect it.”
While Bhagyahree’s son, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor Abhimanyu Dassani said, “I got the chance to meet the sadhus including the aghoris and also got to know about their extraordinary lives. I did snaan at Sangam and had satvik khana during my entire stay. This was more of an inward journey that made you reflect on what we are and how we need to change. There is an amazing energy around the area.”
Actress Avantika Dassani of Mithya fame was quite exhilarated with her Maha Kumbh experience. “There is so much of activity in the Kumbh area. I met the sadhus, Naga sadhus and experienced other aspects of the Kumbh which I had seen merely in photographs or social media till now. I got the chance to be part of an event like Maha Kumbh that comes after 144 years and the best part is that I was at such a sacred event just before my birthday. I am lucky that I am starting off my year with this kind of positive energy,” she said.
