Decor mood boards, guest experiences & anchors: Weddings are getting AI-fied
When Delhi-based engineer Sanjeev Sethi was planning his 25th wedding anniversary, he turned to ChatGPT to step in as the emcee, and now every family function is hosted by an AI-powered host. Each year, the wedding landscape in India becomes grander, innovative and more personalised. With AI transforming almost every aspect of our lives, wedding planning isn't left behind. Here's a lowdown on how AI is shaping the pre-wedding and post-wedding scenes.
'AI can streamline the multi-layered planning process for weddings'
Whether generating decor concepts or getting ideas to make the festivities more immersive, AI aids many couples who want to plan the wedding themselves. Vikaas Gutgutia, founder and MD, Ferns N Petals, says, "AI can transform what can be a complex, multi-layered process into one that’s streamlined and intensely personalised."

He adds, "Weddings today are becoming more individualised, with couples infusing personal stories into every detail of their celebration. From generating personalised decor concepts to recommending setups based on the season, event themes, destination and guest demographics, AI is a great help. Couples can even take 3D virtual tours and view AI-generated mock-ups of their decor, lighting, and colour schemes, allowing them to visualise their big day well in advance. While everything comes down to execution, this immersive preview instills a fair amount of confidence in their decision, on how the wedding day will align with their aspirations. It can reduce planning stress significantly."
Creative inputs, post-production process, instant wedding photo dump: How is AI helping couples
Parthip Thyagarajan, co-founder of Wedding Sutra, mentions that the use of AI in weddings is evolving. “Many decisions and ideas are based on what couples see on social media and learn through word-of-mouth recommendations, but now ChatGPT is helping them, in writing scripts, creating wedding hashtags and mood boards for design. AI chatbots for managing guest queries and requests in large weddings with complex itineraries.”

"By answering a set of guided questions covering their preferences in venues, guest count, decor arrangements, choice of cuisine and budget; couples will receive a tailored blueprint for their special day. This will also include elements like AI-generated e-invitations," says Vikaas Gutgutia, who plans to introduce an AI-driven wedding solution service.

Ankita Asthana, co-founder of wedding photography company WeddingNama, says, "Wedding photographers are using AI to speed up the post-production process and to bring consistency and reliability to the editing processes. Even cameras now have AI and use features like skin softening, colour grading and fast eye detection for focusing. Now, there is no excuse for missed shots. As photographers, we have had to hone our skills even more to use these features best. The time saved by using AI is then used to make our relationships with our couples even more personal and fun. The AI-enabled face recognition technology which we use in our app and also during our selection and edits. Guests get their photos in the inbox directly.”

Neha Seth Arora, founder of a leading luxury event management company, Saffron String, shares how wedding planners are using AI:

  • AI image-generation tools like MidJourney and DALL-E help in visualising decor concepts. For a beachside wedding in Goa, the couple couldn’t decide between two themes—boho chic and tropical elegance. Using AI, we generated mood boards blending the two, allowing them to envision the final look
  • Choosing the perfect attire can be overwhelming, but AI simplifies this with recommendations based on body type, style and trends
  • Creating memorable guest experiences is one of the top priorities in weddings today, and AI helps personalise these interactions. For a multicultural wedding, AI was used to create tailored menus that accounted for dietary preferences and cultural sensitivities. The platform also helped in arranging custom table settings
  • AI tools are adding a timeless, artistic element to keepsakes by transforming wedding photos into unique artwork. A couple asked for an AI-generated portrait of their wedding ceremony, which now hangs as a centrepiece in their home—a beautiful, lasting memory.
  • Customisation is key, and AI-driven platforms have been invaluable in designing bespoke wedding websites and e-invitations. Invites can be paired with a unique RSVP tracker that simplifies guest management.
  • AI-powered assistants have made planning much more efficient for couples. These chatbots are like 24/7 support systems that manage checklists, reminders and RSVPs. For a busy NRI couple, we used an AI assistant to coordinate with vendors across time zones and track RSVPs in real time
