Contract killer sentenced to life for murder of 1985 Air India bombing suspect
A contract killer in Canada received life sentence on Tuesday after he was found guilty of murdering a person previously acquitted in the 1985 Air India bombings that had claimed 331 lives.
Tanner Fox and his associate Jose Lopez admitted their crime last October for the second-degree murder of Ripudaman Singh Malik.
Although they admitted receiving payment for the July 2022 shooting in a Vancouver suburb in western Canada, they have not disclosed who paid them. Lopez's next court appearance is scheduled for February 6.

Malik and his fellow accused Ajaib Singh Bagri were previously cleared of charges connected to the 1985 bombing twenty years ago due to lack of evidence.

The bombing of Air India Flight 182 near Ireland's coast, which killed 329 passengers and crew, was the deadliest aviation terrorism incident until the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.

Meanwhile, another explosion at Narita airport in Japan claimed two baggage handlers' lives as they loaded luggage onto an Air India aircraft.

Both explosive devices were subsequently linked to Vancouver. Inderjit Singh Reyat remains the sole person convicted in this conspiracy, for making the bombs and providing false testimony during Malik and Bagri's trials.
