NBA Trade Rumor: Golden State Warriors in pursuit of $40 million Pacers' star, Jonathan Kuminga on the table as trade asset
The Golden State Warriors are reportedly considering a major shakeup in their roster, potentially parting ways with Jonathan Kuminga to acquire Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers. This move would address a glaring issue for the Warriors—strengthening their frontcourt.
Myles Turner, currently earning $19.9 million, has been a standout performer for the Pacers this season, averaging 15.4 points, 2.0 blocks per game, and shooting 47.9% from the field and 39.3% from beyond the arc. His versatility as a stretch five with exceptional shot-blocking skills and low-post abilities could provide the Golden State Warriors with the size and defensive presence they’ve been missing. As Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World pointed out, "His ability to protect the rim and stretch the floor would address two of Golden State’s biggest weaknesses—rebounding and size."

The Pacers have seen a remarkable turnaround since an underwhelming 16-18 start, largely thanks to Myles Turner’s contributions on both ends of the court. His efforts have helped the team win nine of their last 11 games, and his two-way play has been a key factor in their success. "Pairing Turner with Draymond Green would give the Golden State Warriors a defensive core that could dominate inside," Bitar added.

In exchange for Turner, the proposed trade would see the Warriors send Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and a 2027 first-round pick to the Pacers. While Kuminga has shown promise as a young talent, the potential addition of Myles Turner, a proven game-changer, could provide the Golden State Warriors with an immediate upgrade, especially on defense.

Losing Jonathan Kuminga would be a tough decision for the Warriors, as he has immense potential. However, with their window to compete for championships closing, adding Turner could be the right move to push the team back into title contention. Turner’s ability to contribute both offensively and defensively makes him an ideal fit alongside Golden State’s core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

The Golden State Warriors are clearly looking to strengthen their roster for a deep playoff run, and Myles Turner could be the piece they need to take their championship aspirations to the next level.
