R Parthiban makes a humorous remark on Ajith Kumar's Padma Bhushan award
Versatile actor-director R Parthiban, known for his work both on and off screen, last directed the film 'Teenz'. As an actor, he was last seen in 'Ponniyin Selvan 2.'. Now, after 11 years, he is set to make a comeback with a Malayalam film under the direction of debut filmmaker KC Gowthaman. Later, during a press interaction, Parthiban addressed several questions from journalists. When asked about Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' poster, which led fans to liken him to MG Ramachandran (MGR), he commented, "To achieve greatness, aiming high is essential. When someone aspires to follow in MGR's footsteps, it's understandable that they believe it can lead to reaching that level. Even the same cane seems to have been replicated in the poster."

On being congratulated for Ajith Kumar being announced as a recipient of the Padma Bhushan award, Parthiban responded to whether this recognition would spark comparisons between Ajith and Vijay. He humorously remarked, "It feels like it might create such comparisons."

Interestingly, when the Padma Bhushan announcement for Ajith was made on January 25, 2025, Parthiban shared a witty anecdote on his social media. He wrote, "A music legend called asking for Ajith Kumar's number today. When I asked why, they said, 'The central government urgently wants to contact him. Please provide it.' Understanding it was for a good reason, I connected them with his PRO, Suresh Chandra. By evening, the message arrived: the garland for Ajith turned into a diamond crown for 'Thala.' Congratulations."

Meanwhile, Parthiban has been actively participating in various events and frequently interacting with the media. Yesterday (Jan 29), he met with Puducherry Chief Minister Rangasamy. Reports suggest that the meeting was related to the filming of his upcoming directorial venture, '54am Pakkathil Mayiliragu.'.
