Bomb threat at KVASU revealed as hoax
Kozhikode: The Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) college at Pookode in Wayanad received a bomb threat on Friday. The threat was found to be a hoax after the police bomb squad and dog squad conducted extensive searches on the campus.
The mail sent from the email address of "Nivedita" to the college vice-chancellor and registrar said that improvised explosive devices (IED) were placed at the veterinary college and the US Consulate at Anna Salai in Chennai.
Vice-chancellor KS Anil said, "The letter said the unfair hanging of Afzal Guru (Parliament attack convict), was the reason behind placing the bombs. We immediately informed the police and they conducted an examination."
Registrar Sudheer Babu said the classes were not affected. Wayanad district police chief Taposh Basumatary said, "Many things said in the letter do not seem to be related." tnn
