Vasant Panchami marks the beginning of spring and is a time to celebrate knowledge, wisdom, and new beginnings. On this special day, the artists of Sony SAB come together to share their thoughts and memories about the festival, which honors Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning and arts. Karuna Pandey, Naveen Pandita, and Pankaj Berry, known for spreading joy through their shows, reflect on the importance of Vasant Panchami in their lives and how it inspires creativity and learning.
Karuna Pandey who plays the role of Pushpa in Pushpa Impossible said, "Being from Uttarakhand, where Vasant Panchami is celebrated with great devotion, I have fond memories of offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati as a child. We would all wear yellow clothes because my grandmother used to say that Maa Saraswati loves the color yellow. I also remember the beautiful Chounphula and Jhumelia dances performed in our locality. The sight of everyone dressed in bright colors was truly magical. Vasant Panchami always reminds me of my character Pushpa’s spirit – embracing change and continuing to learn, no matter the challenges. It’s a lesson that stays with me in both my personal and professional life."
Naveen Pandita who plays the role of Ashwin Patel in Pushpa Impossible said, “Vasant Panchami has always been special to me because it highlights the importance of knowledge and wisdom. Growing up, I remember my family dedicating this day to Goddess Saraswati with prayers for enlightenment and learning. Even in my career, I feel this inspiration every day – to keep improving my craft, exploring new skills, and embracing the lessons that come with every role I play. For instance, my role as Ashwin has taught me a lot about life. Through Ashwin, I’ve learnt how important it is to stand by your partner and take responsibility for your family. Playing this character has been a journey of growth, teaching me about patience, commitment, and the true meaning of being a supportive husband and son. These lessons have not only enriched my work but also influenced my outlook on relationships and responsibilities.”
Pankaj Berry who plays the role of Tathacharya in Tenali Rama said, "Vasant Panchami has always been special to me. I remember, as a child, my parents would ask me to place my books in front of Goddess Saraswati and seek her blessings before exams. Even today, as an actor, I feel the same reverence. Every script and every role feels like a new lesson, and I owe it all to her grace for helping me grow and learn every day. During my childhood in the North, we used to say, 'Aaya Basant, Pala Udant,' which means that after Basant, the chill starts fading away. I also worship Goddess Saraswati daily and chant her mantra regularly.”
