Actress Barkha Bisht, known for her impactful performances on television, recently opened up about why she has been selective about her TV projects. While speaking to Times of India TV, the actress shared that after dedicating years to the small screen, she now prefers to explore other platforms while also prioritizing her personal life.
Barkha explained, “I have been selective, yes, but I have been a part of television for too many years back-to-back. While I have done some really good work, I also feel that I needed to explore other avenues. Television becomes a little limiting for an actor, so I wanted to try different platforms, whether it was web or cinema.”
Despite her success in television, Barkha admitted that the time commitment required for daily soaps influenced her decision. She now carefully considers roles before taking them on. “If I’m going to give that kind of time and energy to a show, I want to be choosy about it. At this point in my life, I have a lot of personal commitments. My daughter is 13 now, and for me, spending time with her at home is imperative. Family has always taken precedence over my career. So if I have to say that you can break from television, to be at home, I'm primarily doing it because of that.”
The actress further elaborated on why she consciously took a break from television. “Television doesn’t give you the freedom of time. So, if I have taken a step back, it is primarily because I wanted to be at home more. That being said, if something really good comes up that requires my full-time, I will consider it. But it has to be truly worth it.”
While Barkha remains open to returning to television fully, her focus remains on balancing quality projects with her personal life. She is currently seen in the role of Kali Maa in Tenali Rama.
