Bengaluru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah has cancelled official appointments for the next couple of days after experiencing pain in the left knee. He was advised rest by doctors and had to pull out of an event in Channapatna Sunday, which Congress had arranged to thank party workers for the victory in last November's byelection.

Siddaramaiah underwent a check-up at Manipal Hospitals on Old Airport Road in Bengaluru and was sent home in a knee brace. Hospital sources confirmed the CM was not admitted.

The pain is said to be due to pressure in the area where he underwent a ligament surgery in the past. His office announced that he was advised complete rest for two days. Hence, scheduled events, including his tour of Ramanagara and Chikkaballapur over the next couple of days, remain cancelled.
