Farmer dies by suicide

Wardha: A 27-year-old farmer died by suicide by hanging himself in the cowshed of his farm in Khapri (Mungapur). The incident came to light in the early hours of Sunday at around 4.30am.

The deceased has been identified as Nandkishor Sunilrao Vaidya, a resident of Khapri. The police registered a case of accidental death at 11.30 am and have begun an investigation.

According to reports, Nandkishor used to sleep on his farm to guard the crops. On Saturday, he spent the entire day at his farm and even paid wages to the labourers at 6 pm for harvesting vegetables and watermelons. Later, he went home but did not have dinner and returned to the farm at 10pm.

When his family tried to contact him, his phone was switched off. He did not return home that night. The next morning, his father went to the farm to transport the harvested watermelons and gourds to the market. Shockingly, he found Nandkishor hanging in the cowshed.

The tragic news spread quickly in the village as locals rushed to the farm. However, the reason behind the farmer taking the extreme step is yet to be known.

Nandkishor is survived by his parents and a brother. His wedding was scheduled for March, adding to the grief of his bereaved family. Selu police registered the case as an accidental death and is conducting further investigations.
