Nagpur University’s PGTD of Law hosts national conference on cultural sensitivity

Nagpur: The Post Graduate Teaching Department (PGTD) of Law, Nagpur University, in collaboration with Protection Cell Against Sexual Harassment and Gender Discrimination at Workplace (ICC), and IQAC, successfully conducted a National Conference on ‘Fostering cultural diversity and sensitivity in higher educational institutions: Perspectives and challenges in India' on Jan 29. It attracted 300 participants inlcuding academicians, research scholars, and students from across the nation. The conference aimed to bring together educators, researchers, policymakers, and students to discuss the importance of fostering cultural diversity and sensitivity in higher education.

It provided an excellent platform to share ideas, research, and practices that promote inclusivity and respect for cultural differences in academic settings. Chairman of National Book Trust, Ministry of Education, Prof Milind Marathe, was as the chief guest oopening ceremony where Gouri Basu, advisor, ministry of culture, was the guest of honour. NU VC Prashant Bokare and coordinator and head, PGTD of Law, NU Payal Thaorey were also present.

Smita Acharya and Shalini Lihitkar shared their insights on the importance of cultural diversity and inclusivity in education. The National Conference at RTMNU successfully fostered meaningful discussions by several expert. Dr Vijayata Uikey, Dr Girish Kulkarni, Padma Chobe, Shivani Khandate, Richa Kochar were the members of the crganising committee.
