Man’s throat slit in full public view over T-shirt feud

Nagpur: A man in mid 20s was brutally murdered in full public view at Kawrapeth on Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Shubham Harane. His friend-turned-foe, Prayag Asole, slit his throat with a sharp object before fleeing the scene. The shocking daylight murder has sparked tension in the area.

According to sources, Harane had been engaged in a dispute with Prayag and his elder brother, Akshay Asole, over the past two days. The altercation is believed to have stemmed from an argument over a newly purchased T-shirt. Akshay had purchased a T-shirt online. Harane reportedly tried on Akshay's T-shirt, which led to a confrontation. During the dispute, Harane allegedly threw money at Akshay, further escalating tensions.

Sources claimed that the conflict was brought to the attention of Shanti Nagar police, albeit informally, but no immediate action was taken. Akshay had reportedly told police that Harane assaulted him. The lack of intervention might have led to further hostilities between Asole brothers and Harane.

On Sunday, Prayag allegedly lured Harane to Kawrapeth under the pretense of resolving the dispute. However, the situation quickly escalated, and in front of several bystanders, Prayag grabbed Harane by the hair and slit his throat before fleeing the scene. Witnesses claimed that none of Harane's friends, who were accompanying him, intervened to save him.

Local residents gathered at Mayo Hospital, where Harane's body was taken, expressing outrage over the brazen murder. Many voiced concerns over rising lawlessness in the area, particularly in Kawrapeth and Shanti Nagar, which are becoming hubs for illegal activities.

Sources claim that both Prayag and Akshay have criminal records.

Meanwhile, sources claimed that Prayag and Akshay surrendered to the police after the brutal murder, however, official confirmation is still awaited. The Shanti Nagar police have registered a case of murder and launched an investigation into the matter.
