Bihar man kills 3-year-old daughter with spade in Tripura, arrested

AGARTALA: Tripura Police arrested a middle-aged brick field worker hailing from Bihar, identified as Shiv Kumar, on Sunday for allegedly killing his three-year-old daughter early in the morning when her mother was away from home.
The incident took place at Tripura Sundari brick kiln of Maharani in Udaipur under Gomati district. Preliminary inquiry revealed that an intoxicated Shiv Kumar lifted his sleeping daughter Smiti and hit her with a spade, police said.
After allegedly, killing Smiti, Shiv Kumar had attempted to burn the body in a brick kiln but was stopped by his fellow labourers. They informed the police and meantime the angry mob of the brick kiln along with his wife beat him up.
Police rescued him from being lynched and shifted him to RK Pur police station.
Neighbours said Shiv Kumar has been fighting with his wife as his earnings from the brick kiln were not enough to make ends meet. He had made several attempts to leave the job and return home but could not do so because of the contract with the employer.
