Agra: A 15-year-old boy, a student of class VIII, has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and killing a six-year-old madrassa student at a village in Muzaffarnagar, police said. The child, who was last seen going to the accused's house, went missing on Jan 29 and police found the body stuffed inside a plastic bag -- dumped in front of an abandoned house -- two days later.
Muzaffarnagar SP (city), Satyanarayan Prajapat, said, "Police teams were formed to look for the missing child in the village. Both belong to the same neighbourhood. On Friday morning, his body was found in a dilapidated empty house near the accused's place. All the evidence was collected. The CCTV footage was scanned, relatives and over 100 local residents were questioned, and the accused was then identified and picked up."
Police presented the accused before the juvenile court, which sent him to a juvenile home on Sunday. An FIR was registered against the accused under BNS sections 137/2 (kidnapping), 103 (murder), 238-K (causing disappearance of evidence of a crime) and Pocso Act at Chhapar police station.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused lured the child by offering him to show a puppy in the locality, but instead took him to the empty house, where he sexually abused him.
When the six-year-old threatened to inform his parents, the 15-year-old strangled him to death with a rope and towel, put his body in the large plastic bag and left it there -- about 150m away from the latter's home. The towel and a similar plastic bag were later recovered from the 15-year-old, police said.
