AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) on Thursday announced its punishments for students caught cheating during the summer exams of engineering, MBA, MCA and ME courses.
As many as 94 students have been barred by the university from taking exams for the next year. Sources said the punishments were announced after the university conducted its second round of hearings recently.
After the first round, the university had punished eight students by failing them in one paper, 143 students had their entire semester exam cancelled and 205 were punished by declaring them failed in one subject and being barred from the next semester exams.
Sources said in the second round, the university committee heard 157 students who were caught cheating.
Apart from 94 students being barred from exams for a year, the university declared 18 students failed in one exam, 39 were declared failed in one semester exam while the committee found six students innocent and did not punish them. tnn
