Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s challenge in under-13 category of UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships in Surat ended with all paddlers bowing out of in the early rounds on Wednesday.
Ahmedabad’s Mouboni Chatterjee and Jiya Tridevi won their first-round matches but failed to advance further in the girls’ section. Charmy Trivedi lost in the first round.
In the boys’ section, Manav Mehta and Samarth Singh Shekhawat also lost in second round. Malav Panchal and Vihaan Tiwari lost in the first round.
Eight Gujarat paddlers — Aayush Tanna, Himansh Dahiya, Malav Panchal and Janmejay Patel (boys) and Pratha Pawar, Riya Jayswal, Nidhi Prajapati and Jiya Trivedi (girls) — make it to the main draw of the under-15 category.
Massive win for Rays CA: Rays Cricket Academy defeated Savita Cricket Academy ‘B’ by 226 runs in an onesided match at the SPCT U-12 Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday. Batting first Rays scored 292 for seven in 50 overs, with Parth Chauhan (83) and Dhvit Patel (74) scoring brisk half centuries. Ishan Hudia took four for 76 for Savita, while Het Patel bagged two. Savita’s chase never got any momentum and they were bundled out for 66 in 29 overs, with Hardev Patel taking two wickets for two runs. Dhvit was named man of the match.
Chandkheda FC, Amateur FC win: Chandkheda FC beat Saijpur Rising Players Line Boys 2-1 in their match at Fr. Donald Dias Football Tournament here on Wednesday. Vishesh Pandey and Vatsal Sharma were on target for the winners, while Sanket Machi scored for Saijpur. In another match, Amateur FC routed City Police, Ahmedabad 9-2. For Amateur FC, Nitin Sharma scored six goals, while Yatharth Singh netted thrice. Imran Pathan and Abhishek Parmar reduced the margin for City Police.
