Ahmedabad: A 16-year-old girl left home with her 17-year-old boyfriend from
Bihar, boarding the first available train after being reprimanded by her father. On Tuesday, they were found at Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad, leading an NGO focused on children's welfare to contact the Abhayam 181 helpline for assistance.
"The boy and girl are neighbours and were in a relationship for the past couple of years. When their relationship became known to the girl's parents, it caused a major uproar, following which the girl's father asked her to leave home in anger. The girl left home with the boy. After initial reluctance, the girl and boy provided contact details of their families. The parents of the minors reached the city on Wednesday and took custody of their wards," said an Abhayam counsellor.
The counsellor said separate missing persons complaints were filed by the parents of the duo, and police were already searching for the teenagers. "The teens were counselled about the dangers of such an adventure and were told that they cannot marry until they attain the legal age," said a senior official.TNN
