AJMER: Police on Monday arrested a 60-year-old accused for raping a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in the bathroom of a village temple in the newly formed Kekri district. The accused fled from the village after the crime. However, the police arrested him from Daulatpura village of Bijyanagar town.
The incident is of August 9, but the family of the rape survivor was so terrorised that it reported the matter on the evening of August 20.
Within hours after the FIR, the Kekri police tracked down the accused and arrested him.
Kekri SP Rajkumar Gupta said that a report was filed on Sunday evening stating that on August 9, at about 8pm, a little girl was playing on the premises of Ramdev Temple of a village in Kekri district. The accused, identified as Ramji Raiger, came and took the girl to the bathroom and raped her.
"After the family filed a report, police came into action and on Monday afternoon the accused was arrested," said Gupta. During police investigation, it was revealed that Ramji Raiger is jobless and remains in the temple throughout the day. On August 9 evening, the victim went to the temple with her mother and was playing on the prmises while her mother sat down on the steps and was busy talking with other women.
The mother came to know about the incident the same day but was terrorised as her husband was away to the city for work. "When my husband returned on August 20, I narrated the incident to him and then we went to police station," stated the report filed by the girl's parents. "We formed the special team and arrested the accused from Daulatpura village of Bijaynagar," said police.
